Overview

This Programme of Studies in Science and Culture: Cultures, Spaces, Representations and Practices (CREP) is aimed at creating a common research ground on the topics of “Science and Culture” from the point of view of the new humanities, that are integrative and not disciplinary. In order to achieve that aim, it endeavours to consolidate a research, training and cooperation programme that permits a better and more contemporary approximation to the social and cultural problems related to the production, validation and distribution of scientific and technological knowledge and practices. It encompasses research groups from the UAM, the University Carlos III, the UCM, the UNED (Open University) and the Institute of Philosophy of the CSIC. This Post Graduate course, which is aimed at having both a national and international presence, will have the following purpose: to make multidisciplinary research groups, formed in new needs and objectives, more dynamic; to build inter-University research networks on common problems which may be both local or global; to serve as a national and international reference point for Post-Graduate students interested in science studies; to establish the basis for submitting, under the best possible conditions, to the European Science in Society of the 7PM; to establish a unified and coherent plan for distributing results.
